what I am doing now

Career

Last June, I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering. Currently applying for entry-level process engineer/safety engineer roles in the oil & gas sector. Meanwhile, I am working through safety/O&G/engineering certifications, starting with the International Well Control Forum's Level 1 programme.

Creative Life

My aim is building a creative career - let's call it a side project for now - from scratch. Here's a snippet:

Writing

Still running my Bearblog, targeting 3 to 4 posts per week. Recently launched a Substack and my utmost priority is populating my publication with consistent, meaningful work. So far, there is one post. Also preparing to ease back into freelance/guest writing (I was a teen when I published my first work), but the landscape has dramatically shifted since then. Not sure for the better or worse.

Art

I am exploring my identity as an artist. Who am I? What narrative do I want my work to convey? I am working on cohesive pieces that feel authentically me, moving away from heavy reliance on references. For the first time, I am embracing large-scale composition, primarily in charcoal. Hopefully, I will update my gallery soon.

Sketching with my dip pen & ink more than ever - capturing fleeting moments of daily life in loose, spontaneous studies across the pages of tiny sketchbooks. Picked up oil painting again after a five-year hiatus; reacquainting myself with the medium through master copies of my favorite works, while simultaneously delving into the complexities of color theory.

Media

I listen to "Let Down" by Radiohead nonstop. I started The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron and hope to start the 12-week artist plan described in the book. I am not watching any movies or series that I can mention. These days, it's words that I am consuming - blogposts, books, poetry. In my free time, you will find me scrolling through The Met's art archive.
