rambling about my creative endeavors

I enjoy senselessly rambling about my creative pursuits - be it writing, sketching, or whatever ideas/books/songs currently piquing my interest. I find these meandering reflections a pleasurable departure from my typical introspections. They also provide a better sense of how I am spending my time.

Lately, I find myself exerting conscious effort to connect with more established creatives in my life, people whose journeys I can learn from, whose advice I can seek. How do they define themselves as creatives? What is their work process like? What drives their vision? It's partly why I've been drawn to forging connections on Bear recently.

Anyway, I recently launched (correction: attempted to launch) a Substack newsletter, and it's been quite the rollercoaster. The interface isn't particularly complicated, but it's unfamiliar and, compared to the minimalistic nature of Bear, intimidating. I keep uncovering new features - SEO settings, logo customization, paid subscriptions. But I started anyway. If I waited until I felt "ready," I would've waited forever. (This your sign to start that project you've been putting off, even when you have no idea what the hell you're doing. You will learn along the way.)

Seasoned writers often recommend reading more to be able to write more. This is advice I take seriously, and it's why I am deliberately exploring more genres, writing styles, and voices. My current reads:

Lastly, I've been considering giving my blog a subtle refresh, without compromising the platform's minimalist essence (that I absolutely love). My coding skills are far from impressive, so I am merely experimenting within my limits: home page, a contact form, my little art gallery.

Thank you for reading my very miscellaneous updates! I recommend "Not Strong Enough" by boygenius. It was the song I was listening to while writing.
