three daily wins
Aristotle made the observation that people find it easiest to remember things in threes. And, when you think about it, the rule of three does apply everywhere. Newton described three laws of motion. Every story has three parts - beginning, middle, end. The rules of survival are three: three minutes without air, three days without water, and three weeks without food.
They also say you need three daily wins to become the best version of yourself: physical, mental, spiritual.
the physical win
An intense gym session, a morning stretch, a quick run, a walk around the neighbourhood - your physical win is anything that gets your body moving. Incorporating exercise is indispensable for leading a healthier lifestyle, elevating your mood, and improving your overall wellbeing. Most importantly, your physical win will become a reflection of your commitment to improve yourself, as it instills a rigorous sense of discipline.
the mental win
This win incorporates any activity that stimulates your mind and enhances your knowledge - reading, writing, creating art, studying, and learning. High-value people are intelligent people. Hence, you want to spend your time nurturing your knowledge and sharpening your mental abilities. The possibilities are endless with this one, so take your time to figure out what hobbies, skills, or profession you are interested in developing.
Currently, my mental win involves practicing a hobby. I also recently incorporated enhancing my engineering knowledge on a daily basis - from taking online courses to reading books (My goal is to be the best process safety engineer out there).
the spiritual win
This win involves holistic activities like prayer, meditations, and daily reflections. By taking the time to nurture your inner peace, you will garner clarity, experience a sense of tranquility, and temporarily disconnect from the chaos of daily life. By reflecting, you also gain a clearer life purpose. I acquire this win through daily journaling. That is how I connect with the deeper part of myself. It may be different for you.
I think these wins are a great way to categorize your life into three basic categories - mind, body, soul. But also, the point of this post is to prove that winning (succeeding) does not occur abruptly overnight. It requires consistency, discipline, and effort. In other words, it requires you to execute daily actions.
Setting these three daily wins will offer little bursts of progress as you execute them. They are to be the most basic foundation, the building blocks that will gradually mold you into the high-value person you want to be.
Your daily wins will keep you moving forward, step by step, one foot in front of the other, towards your goals, to elevate your life and become the best version of yourself - physically, mentally, and spiritually.
I urge you to re-asses your life. Examine your daily habits, evaluate what you are investing your attention on, and modify your routine to align your goals. Celebrate your three daily wins and watch how your life changes.
